At Golborne Place we provide our clients and instructors with a high standard of equipment including small and large apparatuses, specialised supportive cushions for therapeutic exercise programmes, and underfloor heating throughout, in a calm and beautiful environment. Since 2009, we have recruited only the very best instructors to provide tailor-made and suitable programmes for each individual. In the words of a Golborne Place client… “Golborne Place is more than a sanctuary, more than an exercise institute. It is a heart of healing for me in London.”
The Gyrotonic Method is a movement system that provides a unique vocabulary of exercises to address the person as a whole. Gyrotonic exercises are practised on specially designed adaptive equipment to support and guide each person’s needs. The world-renowned Method offers a wide range of therapeutic programmes and is highly respected in clinical settings as well as professional Athlete and Dance environments. Exercises concentrate on working the body through the entire natural range of spinal movements, stimulating your whole nervous system and opening the energy pathways. Systematically and gently working all the joints in your body, stimulating your organs and improving circulation. Breathwork is an essential part of the teaching of the method. It companies the intention of each exercise, whether this may be for energising the body, to slow down the body/mind system, or for supporting a deeper opening in the connective tissues, to name a few examples. Under the tuition of our expert instructors, Gyrotonic exercises can be carefully crafted to support people from all walks of life, whether recovering from an injury, living with a disability, pre- or post- natal, to complement athletic or dance training, or simply to enhance quality of life through increased vitality of movement.
Created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, the teaching practice of the Pilates Method has gradually evolved, integrating current bio-mechanical thinking within the well-set-up principles of the highly respected, unique original system. Using movement patterns on specially-designed equipment, muscle groups are balanced, gradually conditioning the body, and making it less prone to injury. The guiding philosophy behind Pilates is that every part of the body is exercised in order to attain great health and that the integrated use of breath accompanies a whole-body commitment. The Pilates Method is practised worldwide, and it has earned an invaluable place within the clinical and sports healthcare fields because of its effectiveness and adaptability. Under the tuition of our expert instructors, we provide Pilates programs on Pilates Reformer, Pilates Cadillac and Pilates Combo Chair, as well as an extensive range of specialised equipment for body rolling, feet health, balance enhancement etc.
Gyrokinesis exercises, as in The Gyrotonic Method, concentrate on working the body through the entire natural range of spinal movements, stimulating your whole nervous system and opening the energy pathways as you systematically and gently work the joints in your body, stimulating your organs and improving circulation. Gyrokinesis exercises are practised on a hight adjusted supportive stool, on a floor-matt, and in the standing position, and no further specialised equipment is needed. At Golborne Place, we offer personal Gyrokinesis tuition, and sessions can be taught as a pure Gyrokinesis class or in conjunction with the equipment available. For example, Gyrokinesis & the Jumping-Stretching Board are ideal together in a class setting, as the vocabulary in the equipment is purely built on the Gyrokinesis exercise program. So the use of the equipment offers a perfect progression and tool for increasing results.
