Daniel Squire
Daniel worked for over two decades as a professional dancer, primarily in New York with Merce Cunningham and in London with Michael Clark, before becoming a Soft-tissue Therapist. Throughout his dance career he negotiated injuries and rehabilitation from operations, with the aid of various health practitioners; and he brings this wealth of experience and rich understanding of the body to his work as a massage therapist.
Daniel focuses on releasing patterns of tension and pain which impact on the rich experience of life in our human bodies. He seeks to improve wellbeing and physical efficiency — in the form of everyday functionality, optimal athletic performance, dance, etc. — by identifying and treating soft-tissue tension and imbalances, and by improving quality of movement throughout range.
Daniel works in a relaxed and nurturing environment where his clients step away from their hectic lives to receive massage treatment and has a wealth of experience working in tandem with Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and Movement Practitioners to enhance people’s wellbeing.
Sport & Remedial Massage
and Soft-tissue Therapy
Combining Sport & Remedial Massage with various techniques of Soft-tissue Therapy, soft-tissue aspects of many chronic and post-acute injuries are treated. Through these sessions, clients' quality of life and movement is enhanced through working towards optimal efficiency. Areas of tension soften, chronic and post-acute injuries are addressed with specificity, and repetitive strain is identified and treated. Additionally: many medical conditions such as IBS and arthritis result in soft-tissue patterns which also benefit greatly from massage treatment, alleviating symptoms and lessening the impact of these conditions.
Qualifications and experience
Daniel holds a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage Therapy from the London School of Sports Massage and has been a member of the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage since 2015.
He has worked as a massage therapist with runners, elite dancers, cyclists, writers, labourers, upholsterers, and physiotherapists (among others); both in clinics and at performance venues such as Tate Modern and Sadler's Wells theatre.
“I believe massage treatment can positively impact on your sense of self and everyday life, whether you're coming to me for rehabilitation from an injury, to enhance performance of a specific physical activity you pursue, or purely to find more ease and resilience whilst calmly reconnecting with yourself through a massage-therapy session.”
