
In Pilates it is important that we begin from a released and open body, so some time will be spent with relaxation and breathing. This allows the mind to become aware and then we can begin to learn how to stabilise naturally and move. The method starts very gently but can steadily progress to become a very demanding workout for the whole body. The method will be taught using the machines designed by Joseph Pilates to allow you to work against resistance and also on the mat allowing more freedom of movement. Sam will guide you through the early stages and progress you to the level that suits your ability.
Samuel trained at the age of 10 at the Royal Ballet School and was a Professional Dancer with Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet for 17 years. He was first introduced to the Pilates Method in 1991 and trained formally with Body Control Pilates in 2000. Samuel has been very influenced by the work of Laurence Petersen and his therapeutic approach to Pilates and has also studied the Classical format. He is a member of the Body Control Pilates Teacher Training Team and has worked both in the UK and Internationally for Body Control.
